Lake Station Community Schools is seeking school bus drivers to provide for the safe transportation of students to and from school or to other school related destinations; all training provided.
Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED; be at least 21 years of age with the ability to meet all State Bureau of Motor Vehicles/US DOT physical requirements. Must hold (or obtain) a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with the required school bus (S), passenger transport (P) and air brake endorsements issued by the State of Indiana. Must have sufficient physical and mental abilities to operate a school bus, special purpose vehicle (mini-bus) or other school vehicle in a safe and responsible manner. Lake Station will provide driver training support, DOT physical examination and assist school bus drivers in earning a CDL.
Job description:
Transporting students to and from school or other school related destinations in a safe manner. Good judgment is expected to ensure safe transport. The bus driver will work closely with the supervisory and support personnel in the transportation department to resolve concerns. Bus driver professional specifications apply.
Currently seeking:
  • Regular school bus drivers (2-hour minimum morning-AM (6:30 am) routes and 2-hour minimum afternoon-PM routes) [4-hour minimum per day] we can accommodate AM only or PM only drivers and job-sharing.
  • Substitute school bus drivers (daily as needed and long-term substitutes)
  • Extracurricular / field trip school bus drivers (as needed mid-day, evening and weekend)
Compensation:
Established rate depends upon qualifications and experience:
Range: $17.00 to $17.50 per hour [T1 or T1S]
