Job description

Position Summary

This position supports the service and transportation division with cleaning and detailing fleet buses and customer buses while also driving a school bus route as assigned. This position contributes to an atmosphere of total quality customer service and strives to ensure that buses are in good condition prior to pick up and delivery of students by performing inspections and cleaning daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspects inside and outside of vehicles/buses for leaks, damage, touch up paint required, and interior/exterior cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Cleans the outside body of the bus, windows, bumpers, and tires, which may involve removing grease, dirt, and dust.
  • Cleans inside walls, floors, seats, dash, and chair rails. This may include disinfecting the vehicle as deemed necessary by management.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail in completing tasks and documentation.
  • Requests or obtains necessary cleaning supplies to maintain stock for task completion.
  • Maintains a safe and organized workspace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Bus Driver Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observes traffic and weather conditions to ensure passenger safety.
  • Safely transports students following the planned route and schedule for departure time and stops.
  • Addresses student misconduct immediately to ensure the safety of all students while maintaining professionalism.
  • Reports delays, accidents, emergencies, and maintenance needs.
  • Regularly checks vehicle safety, such as tires, brakes, turn signals, mechanical equipment, etc. before and after each trip.
  • Enforces conduct and safety rules while on the bus.
  • Responds to emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Assists with loading and unloading of the bus when required.
