Job description

Supervisor: Executive Director of Student Operations
Civil Service Title: (Civil Service Title: Bus Driver)
Minimum Requirements: 
Possession of a valid New York State driver's license
appropriate to the vehicle(s) operated.
Must meet all State and Federal pre-employment requirements of the position prior to employment including the appropriate driver's license for the vehicle being operated. It is the jurisdiction's responsibility for ensuring the employees possess valid licenses appropriate to the type of vehicle(s) being operated.
Desired Qualifications: 
High school diploma or possess GED;
Previous experience working with Pre-K-12th grade students.
Position Summary/Responsibilities: 
Drives a school bus on a regular schedule on an assigned route or on special occasions;
Assists disabled students in boarding and exiting bus by operating a hydraulic lift as necessary;
Checks the operating condition of a school bus before starting a regular or special trip;
Reports any mechanical defects of bus to the supervisor;
Instructs or informs students about safety practices when entering and exiting bus and while in transit;
Maintains orderly conduct of students on the bus;
Cleans and services assigned vehicle daily;
Performs a post-trip inspection of the vehicle after every route;
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
