School Bus Driver Aide
Reports To: Transportation Supervisor, Local Superintendent
Employment Status: Part Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid all students.
  3. Experience with children; experience with special needs students helpful
  4. Good health, high moral character, clean, neat appearance.
  5. Established record of good attendance.

General Description: To contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the school district by assisting with the safe and orderly transportation of school bus pupils within the guidelines of the State of Ohio law and policies as established by the state and local board of education
Essential Functions:
  1. Reports to work appropriately dressed and on time.
  2. Is jointly responsible for the safe condition and cleanliness of the bus.
  3. Maintains confidentiality.
  4. Maintains pupil control and reports discipline violations to the proper authority. Uses properly approved procedures for reporting all discipline problems.
  5. Reports any hazardous conditions to the driver and to the director of transportation.
  6. Assists in loading and unloading of pupils.
  7. Is present when requested at meetings and is available in case of emergency dismissal.
  8. Contacts the director of transportation in cases of illness to allow time for the director to secure a proper substitute.
  9. Promotes good public relations by his/her personal appearance, attitude, conversation and the appearance of the bus.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings;
  2. Helps instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values; and
  3. Conducts other aide-related duties as assigned by the director of transportation and/or local superintendent of schools.

Additional Working Conditions:
  1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
  2. Occasional operation of a school bus under inclement conditions.
  3. Occasional interaction among unruly children.
