GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Assist the Bus Dispatcher in coordinating and implementing bus schedules in a large school district which supplies much of its own transportation; perform related duties as required.
COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES:
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of judgment in dispatching buses from the school bus facility to assigned stops.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
  • Assist in dispatching buses to assigned bus pick-up points.
  • Maintain transportation records relative to drivers' time, mileage gasoline used, etc.
  • Checks drivers' licenses periodically and follows up on required physical examination of drivers.
  • Supervises loading and unloading of children on to and from buses.
  • Operates a school bus, as required.
  • Call Handling: Receiving calls from service technicians and customers, recording significant information, and prioritizing calls based on urgency.
  • Support Dispatcher: Assisting with incoming calls, transmitting information, and providing solutions when problems arise.
  • Service Coordination: Dispatching service calls and emails, setting daily schedules for technicians, and monitoring routes and statuses.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of school district geographical area.
  • Knowledge of all bus routes and bus stops.
  • Knowledge of all rules, regulations, and policies related to transportation within the district.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, parents, and school staff members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school and one year of satisfactory bus driving and/or motor vehicle dispatching experience.
SALARY RANGE: As per labor contract.
