School Bus Dispatcher - Darlington

Southwest Bus Service - Darlington, WI

Southwest Bus Service is building our team in Darlington, and we are looking for a dependable, organized, and confidentSchool Bus Dispatcherto help keep our daily operation running smoothly.

The Dispatcher is at the center of our operation. You will communicate with drivers, monitor radio traffic, respond to schools and customers, coordinate trips and help solve the everyday challenges that come with operating a school bus fleet.

If you are organized, communicate well, can handle several things happening at once and enjoy being part of a team where every day is a little different, this may be a great fit.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor two-way radio communications with school bus drivers throughout daily routes and trips
  • Answer incoming phone calls from drivers, schools, parents, staff, and customers
  • Communicate route changes, delays, student transportation concerns, and other important information
  • Use ourtrip and dispatch softwareto schedule, assign and monitor school and extracurricular trips
  • Coordinate drivers and buses for athletic events, field trips and other transportation needs
  • Assist with daily driver and bus assignments
  • Help coordinate coverage when a driver is absent or when transportation needs change
  • Track buses and communicate with drivers when questions or issues arise
  • Maintain accurate dispatch records and daily transportation information
  • Communicate closely with the Terminal Manager, drivers, school personnel and other Southwest team members
  • Help ensure trips and routes leave on time and are properly staffed
  • Respond calmly and professionally when unexpected situations occur
  • Assist drivers with questions and help get them the information they need
  • Support the overall day-to-day operation of the Darlington terminal

You don't need previous school bus dispatch experience to be successful in this position. We are looking for someone who:

Previous experience indispatching, transportation, logistics, school transportation, customer service, office administration, or operationsis helpful, but not required.
