A bus aide provides support for the bus driver in supervising students who ride school buses, managing student behavior, and with addressing emergency situations. As a bus aide, your job duties include making sure students board and exit the bus in a safe and orderly manner, ensuring appropriate behavior from the children on the bus, helping students with special needs, and providing incident reports. You may also supervise children with special needs until their teacher or parents pick them up from their designated drop-off location at school or near their homes.
| Aspect | Bus Aide | Bus Driver |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | High school diploma or equivalent; some states require special training or certification | Commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement; background check |
