Job Description
The Senior Manager of Building Services and Custodial Support is responsible for the oversight and operational management of division-wide custodial services and minor maintenance/repairs for campuses and administrative facilities. This role ensures clean, safe, and functional environments conducive to learning and aligned with district standards and compliance requirements. This position is an essential worker position.

Responsibilities
  1. Provides leadership and supervision to custodial and building services teams across the division.
  2. Assists with the development, implementation, and monitoring of operational procedures and quality standards for custodial services and minor building repairs.
  3. Supports and evaluates site-level building services managers and ensures adherence to district policies and service level expectations.
  4. Assists with the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules for minor repair needs and ensure timely response to service requests.
  5. Establishes and implements custodial service protocols, including cleaning schedules, staffing plans, and training programs.
  6. Ensures that all facilities are cleaned and maintained to meet health, safety, and environmental standards.
  7. Monitors custodial supply usage and assists the building services managers with inventory in alignment with budget and procurement policies.
  8. Assists in developing and managing the annual budget for custodial operations and minor maintenance services.
  9. Serves as liaison between the department of operations and school administrators regarding custodial and minor repair issues.
  10. Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.

-Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.

-Decisions are made with greater freedom and discretion, including recommendations that are subject to approval on matters that may affect multiple departments across HISD. -Decisions have minor, small and possibly incremental impact on the department or facility. Errors are usually discovered in succeeding operations where most of the work is verified or checked and is normally confined to a single department or phase of the organizational activities resulting in brief inconvenience.

-Collaborate and solve problems - works with others to resolve problems, clarify or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.
