Job description

Job Description RCS Staffing has an immediate need for an Operations Director in the Fort Worth, Texas area. This is a full-time, direct-hire assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, including benefits, vacation, and holidays.

Overview of YOUR Role as an Operations Director: Our client is a leading utility contractor with a rapidly growing data center construction practice. In this role, you will serve as the senior leader responsible for building, managing, and scaling the high-voltage transmission projects - owning P&L, driving PMO excellence, and overseeing the successful delivery of large, high-voltage data center projects from contract execution through completion. This is a contractor-side leadership role: you will be the one accountable for project performance, not managing from the client seat.

The right candidate understands the difference and thrives in it. As an Operations Director, YOU Will: Own full P&L responsibility for the data center business unit, managing financial performance, forecasting, cost controls, and margin targets across all active projects. Lead and mature the Project Management Office (PMO), establishing processes, tools, and standards that drive consistent, scalable project delivery.

Oversee the full lifecycle of large-scale data center transmission projects - from contract award through execution, commissioning, and closeout. Negotiate, administer, and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and vendors; ensure compliance with contract terms and proactively manage risk. Develop and maintain master project schedules; monitor milestones and drive accountability across project teams to keep work on track.

Oversee contractor and subcontractor selection, procurement strategy, and execution planning. Monitor project progress across all active work; proactively identify and resolve risks, cost overruns, and schedule threats before they escalate. Serve as the senior point of contact for client relationships, providing clear project updates, strategic input, and executive-level communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Review and approve bids, proposals, and contract documents to ensure alignment with project scope, budget, and company standards. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, applicable codes, and quality standards across all project sites. Build and develop a high-performing team of project managers, superintendents, and support staff to support business growth.

Partner with business development and estimating teams to pursue new data center opportunities and support proposal development. YOU Are the Ideal Operations Director Candidate If You Have: A proven track record in the utility contractor space - you have delivered large construction programs as a contractor, not solely as an owner or client-side representative. Demonstrated P&L management experience, with direct accountability for the financial performance of a business unit, division, or large project portfolio.

Strong PMO experience - you have built or managed project management frameworks that drive delivery consistency across multiple simultaneous projects. Extensive contract management experience, including negotiating, administering, and managing prime contracts and subcontracts on large construction programs. Proven scheduling expertise, with the ability to develop, manage, and hold teams accountable to complex project schedules.

Experience leading large-scale construction projects - mission-critical, or major electrical/utility infrastructure. Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and developing high-performing project teams. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate effectively at the executive level with clients and internal leadership.

It's a BONUS If You Have: Direct experience in data center or hyperscale mission-critical construction as a contractor or EPC provider. Background with electrical construction, power delivery, or utility infrastructure - specifically from the contractor side of the table. Experience scaling a new or growing business unit within a larger contractor organization.

Familiarity with the Dallas-Fort Worth data center market and key regional clients and developers. About Our Client Our Client performs distribution, transmission and substation construction services and conducts turnkey engineering-construction projects for utilities, electric cooperatives and municipalities of all sizes across the country. In addition, they are a leader in storm restoration and offer gas distribution services.
