Job description

Company Description FOSTER Engineered Products represents leading manufacturers in the Architectural Building Products industry. FOSTER Engineered Products offers expert consultation and competitive pricing for the manufacturers it represents. Team members collaborate with architects, designers, contractors, and owners, helping them select appropriate products and systems that meet functional, aesthetic, and budgetary needs.

Role Description: We are seeking a motivated and relationship-driven Outside Sales Representative to join our team in Southern California or Arizona. In this role, you will be the face of our company, responsible for growing our presence and driving sales for our interior construction specialty products in Southern California. If you reside in Arizona, regularly scheduled travel to San Diego will be required. You will work closely with architects, designers, contractors, and project managers to provide solutions that meet their specific project requirements.

This is a field-based role that requires someone who is comfortable managing their own territory, building long-term professional relationships, and navigating the complexities of the commercial construction industry.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Territory Management: Actively manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities across Southern California.
  • Relationship Building: Develop strong, trust-based relationships with key industry stakeholders, including architects, designers, developers, and general contractors.
  • Product Expertise: Become a subject matter expert on our product line, confidently presenting technical specifications, benefits, and applications to various project partners.
  • Project Pipeline: Track projects from the early design/specification phase through the bidding and procurement process.
  • Sales Execution: Manage the full sales cycle—from initial discovery and product demos to bid follow-up and closing.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay up-to-update on industry trends, competitor activities, and upcoming construction projects in the region.

This role may also involve attending trade shows, industry events, and project site visits to identify opportunities and stay informed on market trends.

Qualifications

  • Customer-facing skills, including strong Customer Service and Sales capabilities, with a focus on relationship-building and consultative selling.
  • Knowledge of the commercial construction process, with the ability to understand specifications, building plans, project requirements, and product applications.
  • Experience in Sales Management, including pipeline tracking, forecasting, and meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Ability to represent the company at Trade Shows and industry events, engaging with prospects and promoting product solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with CRM software and basic office productivity tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, presentations).
  • Previous experience in architectural products, construction, or building materials sales is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for client meetings and site visits.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in related construction, architecture, interior design, or a related field is beneficial.

Compensation & Benefits:
