Meals on Wheels People is an organization founded in and by the community! Over the past 50 years, our non-profit has helped thousands of older adults in the Portland Metro area keep their independence through weekly meal delivery and social connections. Our culture reflects our five values: integrity, commitment, respect, inclusion, creativity, and TEAMWORK. With over 20 meal delivery centers throughout Multnomah, Washington, and Clark counties, our staff and thousands of volunteers ensure that no adult over 60 goes hungry or experiences social isolation.   We are looking for a Building Manager who ensures our new Eastside Resource Center is a safe, welcoming, and fully functional environment for staff, volunteers, partners, visitors and community members. This role oversees daily building operations, safety, maintenance, and customer service, while coordinating vendors, projects, reception and facilities staff.   The Building Manager plays a key role in creating a positive experience for everyone who enters the building by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, accessibility, and responsiveness. This position supports a flexible schedule to meet operational, event, and emergency needs. Bilingual employees may qualify for an additional $1,872 annually.   Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Customer Service & Site Experience Serve as a primary point of contact for building issues, requests, and questions. Support a positive, welcoming environment for staff, partners, volunteers, and event guests. Coordinate meetings, trainings, and events (in-person and virtual), including space setup, logistics, and technology support. Maintain up-to-date office, partner, and event schedules to ensure smooth shared-use coordination. Support event space readiness, comfort, safety, and accessibility needs.   Safety, Security & Emergency Preparedness Support compliance with safety, accessibility, fire, health, and building codes. Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure corrective actions are completed. Follow established safety, emergency response, and security procedures. Serve as a standing member of the Safety Committee; ensure accurate incident documentation and follow-up. Coordinate emergency response and incident management as needed. Oversee building security systems, including cameras, lighting, alarms, and access control. Manage badge, key, code, and fob access; conduct regular audits and activity reporting.   Facilities Operations & Maintenance Oversee daily facilities functions for kitchens, offices, warehouse, fleet areas, EV charging, and shared/rental spaces. Inspect buildings and grounds regularly to identify maintenance, repair, or improvement needs. Coordinate and schedule repairs, cleaning routines, and preventive maintenance for building systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical Coordinate with the Kitchen Manager on commercial kitchen equipment repairs and preventive maintenance. Coordinate with Sr. Admin PM on PV, BESS, EV Chargers, Generator repairs and preventative maintenance. Monitor groundskeeping, janitorial services, waste management, and recycling. Oversee janitorial and landscaping services and coordinate with the Kitchen Manager on waste management practices. Coordinate landscaping and exterior maintenance, including debris removal and graffiti response. Coordinate and oversee after-hours response to facility emergencies, including fire and security alarms, temperature excursions (cooler/freezer), and building damage, ensuring timely resolution and continuity of operations. Maintain accurate records of equipment condition, maintenance, and compliance documentation.   Vendor, Budget & Contract Management Maintain and coordinate service contracts and vendor relationships. Ensure vendor compliance with safety procedures, lease requirements, and service standards. Ensure compliance of facilities budgets for maintenance, repairs, supplies, and capital improvements. Provide input on systems, contracts, and tools to ensure cost-effectiveness and operational alignment.   Staff Leadership & Administration Supervise reception and facilities-related staff and contractors, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance oversight. Coordinate updates and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Coordinate workspace configurations, office moves, and furniture layouts as needed. Collaborate with site leadership and HR on staffing, safety training, and workplace policies.
