The primary responsibility of the Building Maintenance is to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of all systems and equipment within the facility. This includes routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and repairing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other building systems. The role emphasizes strict adherence to safety standards, implementation of preventive maintenance practices, and effective team communication to support seamless facility operations.

Building Maintenance Essential Functions

  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other mechanical systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, including electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Perform emergency repairs and warranty services promptly and effectively.
  • Conduct regular cleaning, adjustment, and servicing of equipment.
  • Implement and manage preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect and identify risks or potential issues with equipment performance.
  • Maintain chemical levels in mechanical systems and conduct routine system checks.
  • Ensure adherence to appliance standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Monitor life safety systems and respond to alerts as required.
  • Report all unsafe conditions immediately and participate in safety meetings.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs and records of maintenance activities.
  • Communicate parts, materials, and supplies needs to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Provide regular updates on project and job status.
  • Maintain and repair equipment in laundry, kitchens, guestrooms, event areas, offices, and public spaces.
  • Repair irrigation or sprinkler systems and replace or install water heaters.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of parts, chemicals, and supplies on service carts.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Provide technical direction and training to team members as needed.
  • Assist in cross-training efforts and support other departments as required.
  • Participate in mandatory meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a maintenance engineer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical and mechanical issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance standards.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy equipment when necessary.
  • Certification in relevant fields (e.g., HVAC, electrical) is a plus.
