Description

The Equipment Technician Trainee assists with the maintenance, inspection, and support of machinery and equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience, supporting senior technicians while learning troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and operational best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Support & Maintenance

  • Assist in routine inspections and preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Help troubleshoot basic mechanical, electrical, and operational issues under supervision.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely to support maintenance tasks.
  • Document work performed, including repairs, parts used, and maintenance observations.
  • Assist in installations, calibrations, or adjustments of equipment.
  • Report equipment issues promptly to senior technicians or supervisors.

Operational Support

  • Support the setup and preparation of equipment for production runs.
  • Assist in ensuring equipment and work areas meet safety and operational standards.
  • Help organize and maintain tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.

Collaboration & Learning

  • Work closely with senior technicians and other maintenance staff to complete tasks.
  • Participate in training and mentoring to develop technical skills and knowledge.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or technical certification required.
  • 0–2 years of experience in equipment maintenance, support, or related technical field; school labs or internships acceptable.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems.
  • Ability to use hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

  • Industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and variable conditions.
  • Regular standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • May require extended hours, weekend work, or on-call availability.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.

The range for this position is ​$29.00 hourly rate - $30.50 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
