Position Summary

The Design Engineer Trainee - New Graduate will report to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for the design, testing and documentation of new products as well as supporting manufacturing. This role will collaborate with sales, manufacturing and the customer to provide a solution to the customers’ design challenges.

Purpose and Scope:

Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. Drives product and process changes to reduce cost, inventory, and improve quality and delivery. Implements Lean and Six Sigma strategies in support of continuous improvement culture to increase productivity.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Model safe behavior at all times
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes by deploying product and manufacturing method enhancements
  • Support production with all required technical needs. Determine materials required to manufacture precision aerospace products, determine labor hours to complete each operation of work order and determine inspection points.
  • The Manufacturing Engineer will optimize and document all aspects of manufacturing processes by identifying improvement opportunities and applying simpler, faster, cost effective and reliable methods.
  • Must be able and willing to work extra time as necessary to ensure completion of assigned tasks

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field, OR
  • Cursory materials knowledge
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position
  • Cursory knowledge of GD&T, schematics and relevant test and inspection equipment
  • Demonstrated hands on abilities through employment or personal projects
  • Ability to read and decipher assembly drawings and procedures

Preferred Education, Skills & Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
  • Working knowledge of solid modeling
  • Experience/working knowledge of manufacturing and metal forming processes
