Intermediate Building Envelope Engineer
Location: Toronto, ON
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Salary Range: $100,000 to $120,000

About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm looking to add an Intermediate Building Envelope Engineer to its growing Toronto office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is looking to further develop their technical expertise while working alongside senior building science professionals on a diverse range of projects. You'll gain exposure to new construction, restoration, heritage, institutional, commercial, residential, and recreational projects across Canada while taking on increasing responsibility for project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, assessment, and rehabilitation of building envelope systems, including roofing, glazing, curtain walls, windows, and exterior wall assemblies.
  • Perform building envelope investigations, condition assessments, leak investigations, and performance evaluations.
  • Conduct site reviews during construction and prepare detailed field reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, tender documents, and contract administration documentation.
  • Support senior engineers with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordination.
  • Review construction work for compliance with drawings, specifications, applicable building codes, and industry standards.
  • Participate in building envelope testing and thermal performance assessments.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout all project phases.
  • Attend client meetings and assist in developing long-term client relationships.
  • Visit construction sites, including work at heights using scaffolding or swing stages when required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Science, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3–7 years of experience in building envelope consulting, building science, restoration engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of building envelope systems, materials, and construction practices.
  • Experience conducting site investigations and preparing technical reports.
  • Previous consulting engineering or construction experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam; experience with Microsoft Excel is an asset.
  • Registered as an EIT or working toward obtaining a P.Eng. designation (P.Eng. considered an asset).
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
