Job Summary
BELL Construction is hiring for Laborers to join our team for project work in Heavy Highway/Civil Construction. The Laborer helps perform basic construction tasks on projects in locations like a tunnel, shaft, excavation, or demolition site using hand and/or power tools of all types. The Laborer will also assist in the preparation and cleaning of jobsites alongside other craft workers.
Job Responsibilities
  • Acquires the necessary hand tools of the trade like a claw hammer, tape measure, pliers, and other basic tools.
  • Moves the necessary materials to the worksite.
  • Operates various power tools such as jackhammers, air tampers, concrete vibrators, chipping hammers, concrete saws, chain saws, power driven tools, and electric hand tools.
  • Assists in pouring concrete throughout the process of bridge building.
  • Assists in shooting grade, surveying, or being a rodman.
  • Assists in installing batter boards and layout of footings or abutments.
  • Assists in forming of footings, columns, caps, and other types of concrete formwork including hanging and grading overhang jacks.
  • Performs a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools such as, but not limited to, demolishing buildings, sawing rough lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, and using a cutting torch for demolition work on steel or other metal structures.
  • Assist in tying and setting re-bar mats or cages for concrete reinforcement.
  • Spreads concrete, mixes mortar used in the process of patching concrete, cleans and takes care of concrete finishers tools, and performs other tasks as may be directed by the Concrete Finisher.
  • Carries out duties such as mason tenders and form setters.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as needed.

Education & Experience
  • Minimum required - High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum required - One (1) year of experience.

  • Able to transfer from one task to another where demands require varied experience and ability to work without close supervision.
  • Practical experience with tools.
