Building custodians are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, order, and safety of buildings such as schools, offices, or public facilities. Their duties often include cleaning floors, restocking supplies, emptying trash, performing minor repairs, and ensuring that the building is secure. Custodians play an essential role in creating a safe and healthy environment for building occupants. They may work independently or as part of a team, and sometimes assist with event setup or respond to maintenance emergencies.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a building custodian?

To thrive as a Building Custodian, you need knowledge of cleaning procedures, maintenance basics, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with cleaning equipment, floor care machines, and basic repair tools is typically required. Attention to detail, reliability, and good communication skills help custodians excel in maintaining clean and safe environments. These skills and qualities ensure that facilities remain well-maintained, safe, and welcoming for occupants and visitors.

What are common challenges faced by building custodians and how can they be managed?
