Job Description
  1. Review of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) design documents such as drawings, Specifications (Specs), the Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), and Basis of Design (BOD) to evaluate energy efficiency; 
  2. Perform measurement, verification, commissioning, or retro-commissioning; 
  3. Provide, prepare and develop Pre-Functional and Functional Testing forms in compliance with green building practices; 
  4. Collect data for energy conservation analyses, using jobsite observation, field inspections, or submetering. 
  5. Periodic visits to site for observation and acceptance of pre-Functional tests; 
  6. Inspect or monitor energy system, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) to determine energy use or potential energy savings. 
  7. Carry out Functional Tests (FT) of MEP equipment on site to verify the proper installation of new or relocated HVAC equipment per green building practices; 
  8. Prepare energy-related project reports or related documentation; and 
  9. Prepare documents such as Current Facility Requirement (CFR) and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) plan, Systems Manual, Ongoing Commissioning (Cx) plan, Cx summary report etc. 
Qualifications

Education and Experience:   

Employer requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering and at least two years of commissioning experience in the building industry. 

In addition, the employer requires the following: 

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of Bluebeam, Procore, BlueRithm and Building Management Systems gained through two years of work experience; 
  2. Demonstrated ability using an infrared thermometer and light meter gained through two years of work experience; 
  3. Demonstrated ability to perform peer reviews of construction documents, mechanical, electrical and plumbing drawings gained through at least two years of work experience; 
  4. Demonstrated ability identifying and troubleshooting issues during field observations, communicating with owner and/or contractor gained through at least two years of work experience; and 
  5. Must have LEED AP certification or must be eligible to be certified by Green Business Certification Inc. 
  • All years of experience may be gained concurrently 
  • Telecommuting is an option, but the individual must be in-office three (3) days per week and must reside in the Fort Lauderdale region. 
  • Travel: No more than eight days of domestic travel per year.
