Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Building Automation System Technician to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the hiring manager, this individual will be responsible for developing controls databases, graphics, and programming sequences while providing hands-on startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning support for building automation projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with Distech, Niagara, Alerton, or Tridium platforms and a strong understanding of electrical circuitry, HVAC controls, and system integration.

Success in this role requires the ability to Provide accurate controls of systems start-up, programming, and commissioning for building automation while ensuring systems operate efficiently, meet project specifications, comply with building codes, and satisfy customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate controls of systems start-up, programming, and commissioning for building automation projects using Distech, Alerton, Tridium, Niagara, and related control platforms.
  • Develop controls databases, graphics, and programming sequences according to project specifications, design documents, and operational requirements.
  • Provide accurate controls of systems start-up, programming, and commissioning for building automation including complete point-to-point verification and checkout procedures.
  • Verify proper operation of alarms, annunciation, devices, control panels, field equipment, and system communication networks.
  • Support installation personnel and field technicians throughout project execution.
  • Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and customers to Provide accurate controls of systems start-up, programming, and commissioning for building automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and debug installation issues during both static and dynamic startup activities.
  • Work closely with building owners and contractors to resolve system performance issues and optimize building operations.
  • Provide accurate controls of systems start-up, programming, and commissioning for building automation while ensuring all sequences of operation are functioning as intended.
  • Assist with estimating, system design reviews, implementation planning, startup execution, commissioning, and end-user training.
  • Maintain startup documentation including commissioning reports, daily logs, checkout documentation, and verification records.
  • Ensure software backups and version control procedures are completed for all assigned projects.
  • Provide accurate controls of systems start-up, programming, and commissioning for building automation while supporting existing customer installations and service agreements.
  • Deliver technical service support to building engineers and facility personnel to ensure continued system efficiency and compliance.
  • Complete timesheets, work orders, commissioning reports, and project documentation accurately and on time.
  • Assist with as-built drawings, Operations & Maintenance manuals, and project turnover activities.
  • Support sales and engineering teams during project development and customer demonstrations.
  • Travel to customer sites as required to Provide accurate controls of systems start-up, programming, and commissioning for building automation projects across multiple locations.
  • Partner with Bosch Building Technologies and other stakeholders to resolve operational challenges and improve system functionality.
  • Provide accurate controls of systems start-up, programming, and commissioning for building automation throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, from installation through final customer acceptance.
  • Assist with turnover from Operations to Service while ensuring all deliverables are complete.
  • Provide accurate controls of systems start-up, programming, and commissioning for building automation while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in building automation controls, HVAC controls, or related systems.
  • 2+ years of hands-on controls programming and database management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to Provide accurate controls of systems start-up, programming, and commissioning for building automation environments.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Distech, Niagara, Alerton, Tridium, or comparable BAS platforms.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronic circuitry while reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Understanding of AC power distribution, breakers, transformers, and multi-phase power systems.
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment including voltmeters, ammeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or Technical Degree in HVAC, Electronics, Controls Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Distech, Alerton, Niagara, or Tridium building automation systems.
  • 3+ years of building automation programming and controls database development experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of startup, commissioning, diagnostics, and performance optimization.
  • Proven experience to Provide accurate controls of systems start-up, programming, and commissioning for building automation projects in commercial, industrial, healthcare, data center, or institutional facilities.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and electrical diagnostic skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Regular standing, walking, climbing, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Frequent use of computers, testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and elevated work areas exceeding 6 feet.
  • Near vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment capabilities required.
Work Environment
  • Work may be performed in office environments, active construction sites, mechanical rooms, industrial facilities, and occupied buildings.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction activities.

Schedule & Travel

Schedule: Monday-Friday with overtime and on-call support as required.
