The Controls Lead is the mind behind the mechanics-part problem-solver, part systems thinker, part field guide. This role connects people, projects, and building automation in a way that keeps complex systems running smart from first sketch to final startup.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
To successfully perform this role, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements outlined below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the position.   • Oversee the daily schedule for Technicians to meet departmental needs and help manage project schedules.
  • Work closely with leaders and clients to understand, coordinate, and support agreements and scope of work.
  • Assist in providing direction and support to field teams during the installation and execution of contracts.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting, as well as ongoing learning and development support for current staff, including cross-training to enable full project lifecycle support.
  • Develop HVAC control drawings, schedules, submittals, sequences of operation, material lists, network layouts, electrical schematics, and as-built drawings; select hardware designs from a variety of control vendors.
  • Design HVAC control programs and HVAC building automation systems.
  • Assist in compiling cost estimates and preparing proposals, and provide technical recommendations for projects.
  • Actively engage in continuous self-study to maintain a competitive edge in the industry and remain current with company standards, practices, and product lines; complete certifications as required.
  • Perform material ordering and verification.
  • Perform and assist with the commissioning of controls and associated equipment.
  • Assist design engineers and project managers throughout all phases of projects.
  • Foster an environment of open and consistent communication, collaboration, and mutual respect; support team meetings, reporting, and feedback within the team and with leadership.
  • Take ownership of personal professional growth by pursuing opportunities to strengthen industry knowledge, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field, PLUS three or more years of experience in service, controls, or mechanical plumbing/HVAC; OR an Associate's degree in a related field, PLUS five or more years of experience leading projects and teams within the building automation field.
  • Experience with control systems such as Distech Controls, Trane, Johnson Controls, Alerton, Automated Logic, or Siemens.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with the Tridium Niagara platform.
  • Experience leading building automation projects through all phases of implementation.
  • Experience with information technology and networking.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment, installation techniques, drawings, specifications, building materials, and applicable industry standards, including system prefabrication and installation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat Pro, estimating software, Procore, Primavera, or other project management software, as well as file-sharing systems.
  • Niagara4 certification is preferred.

  • This position will support the Eau Claire, WI territory and surrounding areas.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with the willingness and ability to travel to client sites/customer locations.
