As a Health & Safety Specialist, you'll have the responsibility of leading all EH&S activities and ensuring all responsible parties comply with federal state, and corporate requirements and codes.
What you'll do:
  • Lead Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and company regulations for employees, contractors, visitors, and guests.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by engaging employees, increasing EH&S awareness, and delivering safety training, meetings, and communications.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; conduct root cause analyses and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage and continuously improve the EH&S audit program, including PPE compliance, safety stations, chemical inventories, SDS databases, departmental inspections, and facility audits.
  • Monitor, maintain, and report EH&S performance metrics, risk assessments, hazard identification activities, and the effectiveness of mitigation actions.
  • Support annual EH&S planning and budgeting while participating in cross-functional teams, process improvement initiatives, and Health & Safety Committee activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental programs, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and standards, including ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections, audits, emergency response drills, and ensure all EH&S documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices.
  • Serve as the backup for the Safety Management System (SMS) Manager, assuming leadership responsibilities during their absence.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 2+ years of occupational EH&S related experience
  • Ability to read, speak, write and understand English
  • Ability to sit or stand at least 50% of work shift.

Desired Skills
• Previous EHS experience in an industrial environment and/or manufacturing setting
• Training and certifications preferred but not required: First Aid, CPR & AED, DOT, 30-hr OSHA,
and Hazwoper (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response).
• RCRA certified
• Communicate effectively and efficiently
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Have a working knowledge of regulatory and legislative policies
• Being able to walk to various areas throughout the facility on a daily basis.
