Residential Construction Superintendent

Choice Builders Cedar City & Surrounding Areas, UT | Full-time | On-site

Compensation:

$60,000 to $75,000 per year, depending on experience

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, PTO, life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match.

About Choice Builders

Choice Builders is a veteran-owned residential builder serving Cedar City, Brian Head, and Southern Utah. We are known for quality craftsmanship, clear communication, and a values - driven process. Our mission is simple: build homes the right way and deliver a professional building experience rooted in honesty, integrity, service, results, and growth.

Our work includes a mix of custom homes, semi-custom homes, and residential community projects. Some projects involve detailed finishes, engineered designs, mountain conditions, and more complex scheduling coordination. We are looking for a dependable Superintendent who communicates clearly, stays organized, and knows how to lead residential construction projects from start to finish.

About the Role

This is a field leadership role overseeing residential construction projects in Cedar City and the surrounding areas.

The Superintendent is responsible for:

  • Day-to-day field execution and jobsite leadership
  • Construction schedule ownership, sequencing, and maintenance
  • Trade partner coordination and field accountability
  • Work installed per approved plans, selections, and Company Standards
  • Jobsite safety, quality, cleanliness, and compliance
  • Field issues identified and escalated promptly
  • Communicating professionally with homeowners and internal team members
  • Driving projects from start to finish

This role requires:

  • Practical problem-solving
  • Accountability and follow-through
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Consistent field leadership
  • Sound judgment under pressure
  • Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods in varying weather and site conditions
  • Ability to walk jobsites regularly and perform the physical activities commonly associated with residential construction field supervision

Success in this role comes from balancing schedule, quality, communication, and professionalism consistently across multiple active projects.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee on-site residential construction activities from foundation through closeout
  • Build, manage, and actively maintain project schedules
  • Coordinate trade partners and ensure work meets plans, specifications, and company standards
  • Review architectural and structural plans and proactively help resolve field conflicts
  • Coordinate with office staff, Selections, and Project Management to verify plans, options, and scope details before execution
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized jobsites
  • Complete accurate daily logs, jobsite photos, and field documentation consistently
  • Coordinate inspections and maintain compliance with local building requirements
  • Hold trade partners accountable to quality, professionalism, and timelines
  • Manage punch-out, final completion, and warranty preparation
  • Communicate project progress clearly and professionally with homeowners and internal team members

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a superintendent who is steady, proactive, dependable, and comfortable leading residential construction projects independently. The right person communicates clearly, stays ahead of the work, and delivers consistent, high-quality results.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of residential superintendent or field leadership experience
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans
  • Experience coordinating multiple trade partners and overlapping schedules
  • Detailed knowledge of residential construction sequencing and jobsite best practices
  • Strong organizational skills and an ownership mindset
  • Demonstrated attention to quality and jobsite standards
  • Comfortable working in varying site and weather conditions, including winter scheduling challenges
  • Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, email, spreadsheets, and construction software
  • We use Microsoft Office and Buildertrend
  • Alignment with our values: Honesty, Integrity, Service, Results, Growth
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass background and drug screening
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment aptitude assessment

Preferred

  • Buildertrend experience
  • Experience with residential projects from start to finish
  • Experience with custom homes, detailed residential work, or production-style scheduling
  • Familiarity with Southern Utah trade partners and building conditions

Why Join Choice Builders?

  • Work with a respected, values-driven residential builder
  • Take real ownership of your projects and schedule
  • Be part of a collaborative, professional team
  • Competitive pay, strong benefits, and long-term stability
  • Opportunity to grow with a company that values steady leadership and quality work

Location Matters

This is a boots-on-the-ground role. Daily jobsite presence in the Cedar City and Brian Head areas is required.

Candidates who already live in the area, or who are sincerely committed to relocating to a smaller, outdoor-oriented community, tend to succeed and stay long-term.

We are looking for someone who wants to put down roots and grow with our team.
