Description
This position is open until filled. Applications are being reviewed as they are received.
This position will work from 1PM to 6PM during scheduled days.
This is manual work in the care, cleaning and maintenance of assigned city buildings and property. Work involves the responsibility for cleaning and maintaining assigned buildings. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, dusting, emptying trash, cleaning restrooms, washing windows, maintaining outside sidewalks and performing other cleaning tasks as needed.
SUPERVISION
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager. Assignments are given orally or in writing by the supervisor or department head. Work is subject to inspection while in progress or upon completion of an assignment. Work is also reviewed orally and in writing through performance appraisals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK
(May not include all duties performed.)
Vacuums, sweeps, mops, scrubs, buffs and polishes floors; shampoos carpets; washes windows and walls.
Dusts, polishes, and cleans tables, desks, and counter tops. Moves tables, furniture and equipment.
Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and drinking fountains; replenishes restroom supplies; clears drains.
Replaces light bulbs; empties trash containers; cleans and sanitizes.
Sweeps outside walkways; shovels and removes snow; cleans gutters.
Assembles and puts up partitions.
Closes and locks buildings; opens buildings; maintains the security of the buildings while performing essential functions.
Loads and unloads cleaning supplies, materials and equipment; changes filters.
Makes minor repairs to fixtures, walls, furniture and the like.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF WORK
Completion of the tenth grade and some experience in cleaning; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provide the following knowledge, abilities and skills:
Some knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment.
Some knowledge of safety standards and regulations pertaining to the care and cleaning of buildings and grounds.
Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to operate such equipment as a vacuum cleaner, buffer, or snow blower.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, climbing ladders and lifting heavy objects.
RETIREMENT PENSION
The City contributes 14% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System. The employee pension payment share is 10% of gross salary.
Personal Leave
Eligible for 24 hours of personal leave if more than 500 hours worked in previous calendar year.
Eligible for 40 hours of personal leave if more than 1000 worked in previous calendar year.
