Job Summary:
Bucknell University is currently accepting applications for a Groundskeeper - Refuse Truck. As a member of the essential services team, the successful candidate will perform general landscape and grounds maintenance duties as assigned, including turfgrass management, refuse collection, snow removal, event support, pest control, and pressure washing. Additionally, the candidate will operate and maintain a variety of hand- and motor-driven tools and equipment, as well as operate the refuse truck.

  • Reports to the Grounds Crew Leader

Work Setting/Schedule
  • On-campus
  • Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
  • Essential services staff are required to report to work during times of campus closure or emergencies

What You Will Do
  • Drives and operates refuse truck, tractor trailer, and other vehicles that requires a commercial driver's license
  • Maintains and installs landscaping planting by pruning, planting, watering, weeding, edging, trimming, mulching, and composting. Maintains turf grass as well
  • Collects and transports recycling and trash to transfer area
  • Maintains assigned equipment including sharpening blades, lubricants, filters, belts, and irrigation systems
  • Assists with events set-up and break-down and moving furniture
  • Operates small and large engine equipment such as chain saws, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, blowers, tractors, backhoes, and forklifts
  • Assists with plowing, shoveling, and removing snow

What You Will Bring
Required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years of landscaping and equipment experience
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License

Preferred, But Not Required
  • Vocational/technical training or degree
  • 4+ years of landscaping and equipment experience
  • Pesticide license

Physical Requirements
  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Frequent noise and exposure to machinery, vehicles, heights, electricity, and chemicals
  • Lift 50+ lbs regularly
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, and respiratory irritants
  • Frequent physical activity (bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling)

18.40-23.00
The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.
