DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST (Xray) – Local or Travel

LOCATION: Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. VA Medical Center (VAMC Memphis), Memphis, TN

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time, Local or Travel

SHIFT: Mon - Fri / 8:00am - 4:30pm

**** Earn up to $3,347 per week as a Travel X‑Ray Technologist

BTL Technologies is hiring an experienced X‑Ray Technologist and can accommodate travelers with earnings of $2,947–$3,347 in weekly pay. Weekly pay includes a $1,344 non‑taxable travel stipend.

Pay period is bi‑monthly.

WORK SITE:

The Memphis Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) proudly serves more than 196,000 Veterans across western Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and northwest Arkansas. The facility is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to America’s Veterans.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree or Certificate in a diagnostic radiologic technology program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) required
  • Two (2) years of related experience
  • Familiar with portable X-Ray machines and C-Arms.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and cross-sectional anatomy, recognizes unusual images, and determining proper positioning to best demonstrate areas of interest
  • Possess current BLS issued by the American Heart Association
  • Computer literate and proficient with MS Office products
  • Ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • A REAL ID (from any U.S. State/Territory) or unexpired U.S. Passport required to move through the VA's credentialing process

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The X-Ray Technologist has knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and cross-sectional anatomy, recognizes unusual images and determines proper positioning to best demonstrate areas of interest. Performs radiographic examinations of the skull torso and extremities for routine physical examinations, and for diagnosis of illness or injuries to accident victims.

  • Check system for operation and assess acceptable performance based on established guidelines. Demonstrate knowledge of calibration parameters and the ability to make adjustments as needed.
  • Performs radiographic exams at the bedside and in the operating rooms providing diagnostic x-rays to the surgeons and professional staff on patients that are unable to be x-rayed in the Radiology Service due to incapacity or surgical procedures, using portable x-ray units and mobile fluoroscopic units to achieve these exams. Upon request, operates the fluoroscopic unit in the cysto suite.
  • Practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patient, staff and self. This is achieved by the use of lead aprons, lead gloves, lead shields, lead-lined walls and collimation. The technicians, to ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations, wear film badges.
  • Be aware of and practice the safety policies/procedures of the medical center and participate in quality assurance activities as directed.
  • Properly identifies the patient and the image. Uses left and right markers. This is essential so that mistaken identity does not occur. The technician must be certain that the patient ID band and the request are identical.
  • Responsible for explaining exams to competent patients so that the patient understands what is to be done as well as what hazards, if any, are possible. May be required by procedure or patient's condition to monitor vital signs, recognize allergic reactions and initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Requires knowledge of image acquisition in Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Current Shift Mon-Fri 8:00am to 4:30pm (Shifts may change & Call may be required)

TOTAL COMPENSATION:

  • Base Pay $35.00 - $45.00 Hourly
  • Additional $5.09 hourly – supplement health insurance monthly premiums and/or be placed in Team Members’ 401a account
  • Travel Stipend for commute greater than 50 miles – non-taxable per IRS rules:
    • Lodging $123.00 per day (payable at number of calendar days in bi-monthly pay period)
    • M&I (meals & incidentals) $69.00 per day (payable at number of calendar days in bi-monthly pay period)
  • Travel Round Trip: Up to $200.00 each way for initial travel to Memphis and return to your point of hire at the completion of employment (receipts or mileage required for reimbursement)
  • Paid Time Off: Legal Holidays, Sick Time, Vacation
