Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dallas Mavericks are seeking motivated and enthusiastic interns to join the Broadcast Department for the 2026–2027 NBA season. This internship provides a unique opportunity to experience live sports television production from inside a professional NBA organization. Interns will assist with game-day operations and gain valuable hands-on experience with broadcast technology and production workflows.
LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP:
  • October 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027. (Duration may change because of performance and/or business needs.)
  • Mandatory In-Person Internship Development Session. (Once a month.)
  • Must be able to work up to 29 hours per week (3-4 days/wk.), which may include nights and weekends as needed and working games.
JOB FUNCTION:
  • Be present in-office for production studio and shoulder programming needs.
  • Assist with the setup, testing, and breakdown of broadcast equipment, including audio, video, and graphics systems.
  • Participate in guided, hands-on experience with cameras, audio boards, graphics platforms, and video control equipment.
  • Log and catalog game footage for archival, editing, and replay use.
  • Support the production team in preparing on-air elements such as graphics, highlight packages, and sponsor features.
  • Observe pre-production and post-production meetings to understand planning, coordination, and execution of live game broadcasts.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the overall success of the Broadcast Department.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Able to commit to the full internship duration, including evening and weekend availability for home games and studio events.
  • Have the willingness to learn, take direction, and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Possess basic video, audio, or editing software/hardware familiarity is a plus.
  • Reliable transportation to and from Mavs Headquarters in Dallas.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must be currently enrolled in a college program specific to broadcasting, media production, communications, or a related field.
(If applying for college credit you must be able to provide proof that credit will be earned toward your course of study (from school/registrar).
  • Strong interest in sports broadcasting and live production.
