Job Summary
The Radio Program Director/Anchor will anchor our weekday live, morning news. This individual will oversee radio operations and content.
This is a highly visible leadership role requiring an organized and effective manager who can work closely with news and sales teams. The role also requires regular appearances at community events to represent the station.
The Radio Program Director/Anchor reports directly to the KRDO13 News Director and is expected to lead by example through professionalism and a deep commitment to the organization and the community we serve.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Anchor a live, weekday four-hour morning news show in addition to other programs
  • Coach, mentor, and develop radio staff through regular feedback and performance management
  • Execute community partnerships and station initiatives that support audience engagement and revenue opportunities
  • Anchor live in the field from community events
  • Proactively identify and pursue programming opportunities
  • Manage cross-training of radio staff
  • Ensure strong communication across radio shifts
  • Manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously and bring them to a conclusion
  • Work effectively with station leadership on the news, sales and engineering teams
  • Regularly participate in station and community events
  • Manage the radio news team schedule
  • Prioritize cross-platform promotion

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of four years of on-air broadcast experience
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, or a related field
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a passion for managing and developing teams
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and effectively manage multiple priorities and daily deadlines
  • Excellent editorial judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule as needed to meet station demands

Schedule Expectations
This position may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and schedule adjustments based on breaking news, severe weather, station events, or operational needs.
Physical & Technical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift equipment as necessary
    โ€ข Ability to operate computers, broadcast equipment, cameras, editing systems, and other newsroom technology
    โ€ข Ability to work in studio, field, and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions
    โ€ข Ability to travel locally for station assignments and community events

Work Environment
This position is based onsite in Colorado Springs, Colorado, unless otherwise approved by management. Employees may work in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments typical of broadcast news operations.
Compensation
Annual Salary Range: $60,000.00
This position will have additional commission opportunities.
In accordance with Colorado law, the compensation range provided is a good faith estimate of what KRDO13 reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting.
