Position Summary
Leads and coordinates all safety and health related activities for the Wilson, NC facility. Develops and implements a comprehensive safety management system including providing leadership and support for the line driven behavior based safety process. Continuously monitors safety systems for improvement opportunities. Leads and directs Safety team.
Employee/Labor Health & Safety work encompasses activities related to the wellbeing of employees including:
• Developing and implementing policies and practices to identify/mitigate
hazardous conditions within the workplace.
• Identifying potential workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices,
and working conditions
• Investigating accidents and liaising with engineers, management, and health
and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent
their recurrence.
• Providing advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to
ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to
employee health and safety.
• Maintaining and analyzing records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences
to identify areas of concern and provide information required by regulatory
agencies.
Responsibilities
• Manages experienced professionals who exercise independent discretion and/or manages a functional area or process that may or may not have direct reports.
• Implements policy and strategy for short-term results and influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures
• Decision making is guided by strategic objectives of specialization
• Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures
• Must be able to communicates with executive leadership
• Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree; 6 y+ years of relevant experience including 3-5 years management or direct/indirect leadership experience
Or Master's degree; 4+ years of relevant experience including 2-4 years management or direct/indirect leadership experience
