Road Logistics Carrier Manager

As a member of the Freight Forwarding team Kuehne+Nagel, you will play a key role in transporting goods, optimising processes, and fulfilling our customers' promises. A Road Logistics Carrier Manager optimizes road freight operations by sourcing, negotiating with, and managing carriers to ensure cost-efficient, timely, and safe deliveries. They bridge client requirements by capacity planning, and carrier relationship management
How you create impact
  • Identify, vet, and contract with reliable carriers (asset-based and brokerage) to build a robust carrier network
  • Negotiate spot market and contract rates to maximize profitability and minimize costs
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time pickup/delivery, safety compliance (DOT/FMCSA), and service reliability
  • Build long-term partnerships with carriers to secure capacity during market constraints
  • Act as the escalation point for critical issues, service failures
  • Partner with Operations and Pricing teams to identify opportunities for strategic capacity and cost savings
  • Support Kuehne + Nagel's strategic initiatives pertaining to carrier engagement and operations

What we would like you to bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business (preferred)
  • 3+years of experience in transportation, Truckload brokerage, and managing FTL Shipments
  • Deep understanding of Road transport regulations, FTL pricing, and carrier networks
  • Expertise in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Excel
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

Base salary is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and welfare benefits, a 401k retirement savings plan, tuition reimbursement, and incentive compensation for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
