Job description

The Charleston, WV office of Modjeski and Masters, Inc is seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) with at least 5 years of Bridge Design Experience working on WVDOT projects. 

In addition to traditional bridge design, rehabilitation, and load rating assignments, this position offers a unique opportunity to help deliver two major river crossing projects in the Kanawha Valley. These high-profile projects provide the opportunity to work on complex, impactful infrastructure while maintaining involvement in a diverse range of bridge engineering assignments. What We’re Looking For 
  • Minimum BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University 
  • A minimum of 5 years of related Bridge Design working on WVDOT projects 
  • Valid WV PE license 

What You’ll Do
  • Review and check structural design calculations 
  • Perform structural analysis and design of bridge components using analysis software 
  • Develop preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans.
  • Provide information for design reports.
  • Communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
  • Prepare project-related documents and internal correspondence.
  • Perform and check quantity take-offs from contract plans.
  •  Review and check drawings.
  • Use engineering analysis software such as LUSAS, AASHTOWare BrR, LEAP Bridge, MicroStation etc. 
  • Able to learn and correctly apply relevant design specifications, including: AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, ACI, etc
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including field inspection assignments
