Founded in 1996 by Nick Floyd, 3 Floyds Brewing is an internationally recognized and award-winning craft brewery based in Munster, Indiana. With a passionate and devoted crew and loyal and rabid fan-base, we continue to craft some of the most sought-after beers in the universe, with an approach to brewing that continues to be innovative, unapologetic, and as always, “not normal.”


We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our brewery's finance and accounting team. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close, and analyzing financial results.


The ideal candidate has strong accounting experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience in brewing, beverage, food manufacturing, distribution, or another inventory-intensive industry is a plus.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

General Accounting

  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and financial records.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation.
  • Assist with annual audits and tax-related requests.
  • Ensure accounting practices comply with company policies and applicable accounting standards.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Analyze actual results versus budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting schedules and supporting analysis.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Provide financial analysis to support operational and business decisions.

Accounts Payable / Receivable Support

  • Provide oversight and support for accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Review vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Assist with customer account reconciliations and collections issues.
  • Monitor cash activity and assist with cash flow reporting.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

  • Maintain and strengthen accounting controls and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and efficiency.
  • Assist with implementation and improvement of accounting systems and processes.
  • Ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and properly supported.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and special financial analyses as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with an ERP/accounting system.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a brewery, beverage, food manufacturing, or other manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with inventory accounting, standard costing, or manufacturing cost accounting.
  • Familiarity with brewery operations, distribution, excise taxes, or beverage industry accounting.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
