Job description

Skating Instructors are responsible or teaching participants how to skate using the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) Learn to Skate USA Program. This includes supervising participants on the ice, demonstrating skating skills, assist with planning lessons and schedule, evaluating participant skills and determining if participants meet USFSA ice skating level requirements to be eligible for testing. Oversee and teach USFSA Learn to Skate USA program lessons to children.

Evaluate skating skills of participants in order to determine if the participant has successfully met all the requirements in the level for which they participated. Break down and then demonstrate skating skills on the ice to participants. Provide feedback to participants during skating lessons on what areas are being performed well and what areas need improvement.

Knowledge of USFSA Learn to Skate USA Program Must have the ability to effectively teach and communicate with children including the ability to lead and motivate children. Effective verbal and written communication skills Must be able to successfully demonstrate the skills being taught to participants Customer service skills including the ability to maintain composure in stressful situations Display a positive, respectful attitude Ability to speak in front of groups Must be patient, courteous, reliable, and dependable. Ability to work different shifts including nights and weekends.
