Job description

Title: Engineering Technician
Location: California Assets
Department: Technical Team
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Technical Team Lead
Employment Type: Regular Full-Time
Overview of Position:
Under supervision, the Engineering Technician works in conjunction with production staff to provide reports based on accumulated production, well test, injection, cost data, surveillance, well integrity and other metrics. The incumbent produces data for making evaluations and interpretations; initiates and develops more accurate and reliable data analyses and reporting methodologies; and monitors new technologies drawing upon their expertise to make recommendations for further exploitation of existing technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collaborates directly with engineers, field operations, and other stakeholders to coordinate well operations.
• Monitors and verifies the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of well data and develops methodologies for effective utilization of data.
• Assists the compliance department by tracking, preparing, and submitting well histories, MIT I & MIT II test documentation, and other required data.
• Performs well reviews, data entry, and creates detailed wellbore diagrams in compliance with AOR and UIC requirements.
• Maintains detailed records of well operations in alignment with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Participates in multi-discipline teams as needed to keep workflow on track.
• Assists in the preparation of various reports, plans, budgets, tracking and well reviews.
• Maintains a database containing rig work information.
• Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• College level coursework in engineering, petroleum technology, or related field desired.
• Two years of experience performing the essential duties and responsibilities of the Engineering Technician.
• Any combination of education and experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required
• Knowledge of oil & gas production operations and facilities.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret well integrity data, operational reports, and technical documentation.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong computer software skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and well-planning information systems.
• Verbal communication skills that afford the incumbent the ability to build & maintain positive and effective working relationships with all levels of management, field operations personnel, community stakeholders, and contract personnel.
• Demonstrated strong written communication skills to include the ability to prepare concise reports and effectively maintain required records.
• Ability to maintain flexibility in prioritizing work responsibilities in a dynamic environment, and to recognize when to ask for assistance.
• Strong organization and time management skills enabling the incumbent to meet deadlines.
• Valid California driver's license with a driving record deemed acceptable by the company's auto insurance carrier.

• Proficiency with WellView software or equivalent
Environment & Physical Demands:
Work is primarily conducted indoors within a professional office setting. The temperature and humidity are generally controlled, but conditions can fluctuate. Duties will require repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers; visual acuity for reading computer screens and/or preparing data; communicating with others to exchange information. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate, with standard office conversations and equipment in use. Light to moderate lifting (up to 20 pounds) of office supplies may be required occasionally. Position may require trips to field locations where they may be exposed to a range of environmental conditions.
