Brand Management Internships information

What is a brand management internship?

Brand Management Internships are short-term work experiences where students or recent graduates assist companies in developing, promoting, and maintaining their brands. Interns typically work alongside marketing and branding teams to conduct market research, analyze consumer trends, help execute marketing campaigns, and support brand strategy initiatives. These internships provide hands-on experience in understanding how brands are positioned in the market, how campaigns are launched, and what goes into building brand loyalty. They are ideal for those interested in marketing, advertising, or business development careers.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect during a brand management internship?

As a Brand Management Intern, you can expect to work on a variety of projects that support the development and execution of marketing strategies for a brand. This often includes conducting market research, analyzing consumer trends, assisting with campaign planning, and helping to coordinate product launches or promotional events. You'll likely collaborate with cross-functional teams such as marketing, sales, and product development, gaining hands-on experience in both strategic planning and day-to-day brand operations. This exposure is valuable for building foundational skills and understanding the broader landscape of brand management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a brand management intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Brand Management Intern, you need a foundational understanding of marketing principles, strong analytical skills, and often a background in business or marketing studies. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and marketing analytics platforms such as Google Analytics is typically expected. Creativity, strong communication, and teamwork are vital soft skills that help interns contribute ideas and collaborate on projects. These skills ensure that interns can effectively support brand initiatives, interpret market data, and communicate strategies within a dynamic team environment.

Job description

Jordan Brand Undergraduate Internship
Soul, performance and style take flight at Jordan Brand. With its deep roots in basketball, the Jordan Brand began as an homage to one player: Michael Jordan! Since then, Jordan has become synonymous with peak performance and an endless pursuit of greatness. Employees in merchandising, product branding, sports marketing and sales bring creativity, innovation and adventurous design to footwear and apparel, all with one mission in mind: help athletes fly on and off the court.
There are a variety of different internship opportunities within the Jordan Brand. Below is a brief description of the roles that are available this summer.
Marketing Intern:
A Marketing Intern will assist and implement new digital campaigns for Jordan Brand. These campaigns will be in collaboration with the Digital Direct Manager. The goal is to make sure you communicate clearly and effectively as you develop and implement marketing programs, while also providing insightful recaps, and lead day-to-day process flow and project management during the entire life of the campaign. Focusing on seasonal changes to impact what kind of story you want to tell across Nike/Jordan digital channels and media.
Marketplace Intern:
In the role of a Marketplace Intern, you will support the Marketplace team in crafting the digital strategy for the Jordan Brand. The Jordan Brand is passionate about building unbreakable relationships with its members and it starts with understanding the journey of the consumer. This means doing research and collecting data to understand who the target consumer is, what their needs are, how they behave in the industry and how they interact with the Jordan Brand. The purpose is to provide the Global Marketplace team with consumer insights, qualitative and quantitative, to help the Brand develop and sharpen its strategy around member engagement. How should we collaborate with the member over our digital platforms? How should we engage our members in our Stores? These are the questions that we want your help in answering for the Jordan Brand. The work will then help the Global Marketplace team develop strategies around how to optimize benefits for Jordan buying members and around how to connect with Jordan buying members authentically and in a 365 fashion. The final output will involve a readout that details what you learned about the member experience, enabling the Jordan Global Marketplace team to develop an outstanding membership program.
Merchandising Intern:
A Jordan Merchandising Intern will support the Merchandising team in driving coordinated, profitable, and relevant product assortments that express the category vision in the marketplace and meet revenue targets! You'll provide line plan systems maintenance and help drive alignment throughout the merchandising process including model plan, flow plan, wholesale and suggested retail pricing strategies, and gross pricing margin targets. Our intern would apply market knowledge and internal data systems to provide assistance to the Merchandising team, collaborate with the Sales team on distribution strategies, and work with the Demand Planning and Operations teams to ensure efficient seasonal planning. We also provide the opportunity to conduct analysis of current business (including bookings, and sell-through by channel, age/gender/sport segments, size, color, etc.). You would drive the translation of consumer insights into relevant profiles, collections and concepts to drive the business.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE:
Throughout the summer internship, you will receive on-the-job experiences within a Jordan Brand team at WHQ. You'll have a direct manager who will be one of the many Nike teammates you'll partner with. Over the summer you'll be assigned a project to help you get to know our world and for us to better get to know you.
This is a 8-10-week paid internship opportunity with relocation assistance. Curious to know what it's like to be part of a world-class Internship Program? Check out our recap video from last summer: Nike Internship Program Recap Video

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree with an expected graduation date of Winter 2027 - Spring 2029
