What is a brand content creator?

Brand Content Creators are professionals who develop, design, and produce content that represents and promotes a brand across different platforms. They create a variety of content types, such as social media posts, blog articles, videos, and graphics, tailored to the brand’s target audience and marketing goals. Their main objective is to build brand awareness, engage audiences, and help drive business growth through compelling storytelling and visual communication. Brand Content Creators often collaborate closely with marketing, design, and communications teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness in messaging.

How does a brand content creator typically collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive messaging?

Brand Content Creators frequently work closely with marketing, design, and product teams to align content with broader company goals and campaigns. Collaboration often involves participating in brainstorming sessions, sharing editorial calendars, and adapting messaging based on feedback from stakeholders. This teamwork ensures that all content supports the brand's voice and objectives, while also addressing the needs of various channels such as social media, blogs, and email. Regular communication and project management tools are key to keeping everyone on the same page.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a brand content creator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Brand Content Creator, you need strong writing, storytelling, and visual content skills, often supported by a degree in marketing, communications, or related fields. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, and SEO best practices is typically required. Creativity, adaptability, and strong collaboration skills help individuals stand out in this role. These abilities are essential for producing engaging content that connects with target audiences and effectively communicates a brand's message.

Job description

Description

THIS ROLE IS OPEN TO LOS ANGELES AND NEW YORK CITY CANDIDATES

ABOUT MKG

Founded in 2003, MKG is a women-led creative agency specializing in brand experience. From moments to movements, our work breaks through culture by connecting brands with their people. We're obsessively curious problem solvers who humanize brands through creative storytelling, purpose-driven engagement, beautiful design and impeccable production. We're proud to be long-standing partners to brands like Google, Target, Netflix, Meta, HBO, Delta Air Lines, Beis and Spotify and have offices in NYC and LA, but work everywhere else, too.

WORKING AT MKG

We're in the business of experience. We aim to create incredible experiences for everyone - that includes consumers, our clients, and our teammates as well. We care deeply about the journey just as much as the final product. So while you'll be working hard to check all the details (twice) to make sure the work is flawless, you'll be shoulder to shoulder with some of the brightest, most compassionate and collaborative people in the industry.

We have offices in NYC and LA. Candidates should be within commuting distance of either office and will need to be available for in-person collaboration on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

MKG is looking for a Content Creator who can translate live brand experiences into compelling digital content that lives far beyond the moment.

Experiential creates incredible real-world moments, but too often those moments disappear once the event ends. This role exists to change that. The Content Creator will capture, direct, and produce the video and social assets that extend the life of our work - for both the MKG brand and for our clients.

This is a hands-on creator role for someone who can direct, shoot, and edit. You are as comfortable capturing cinematic footage at a large-scale brand activation as you are getting scrappy.  Most content will consist of short-form video designed to perform on TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, or YouTube, but case study videos and awards submissions fall under this remit as well

You won't just document experiences - you'll shape the story of the moment and turn it into content that travels.

This person will operate independently at times while collaborating closely with our Creative, Account, Production and Marketing teams. They bring strong storytelling instincts, cultural awareness, and a creator mindset to everything they produce.

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THIS ROLE:

BRAND CONTENT & STORYTELLING

  • Create short-form video and visual content that supports the MKG brand across social, marketing, and new business.
  • Produce sizzle reels, case studies, award submissions and fast-turn social content that showcases MKG's work and point of view.
  • Capture content at agency moments, industry events, and activations that reinforce MKG's voice and creative perspective.
  • Collaborate with key leads/teams to identify opportunities to tell stronger stories about the work we create.

CLIENT CONTENT & DIGITAL ASSETS

  • Concept and produce video and social assets for clients as part of MKG's offerings.
  • Translate live experiences into short-form content designed to extend reach across digital and social channels.
  • Capture content on-site during activations, events, and installations and quickly shape it into compelling deliverables.
  • Partner with Creative and Account teams to identify where content creation adds value to a program and can be packaged as a client deliverable.
  • Help build repeatable workflows so experiential programs consistently generate strong digital assets.

CONTENT PRODUCTION

  • Direct and capture video content on-site at brand experiences and live events.
  • Operate cameras, lighting, and audio equipment in fast-paced environments.
  • Edit short-form video designed for social platforms using both mobile-first tools and professional editing software.
  • Shape footage into compelling narratives with strong pacing, hooks, and transitions designed for online viewing.
  • Balance speed and craft - producing content that feels immediate without sacrificing quality.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THIS ROLE:

Given the nature of experiential work, this role may require occasional travel and flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as business needs arise.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • 3+ years of experience creating video content with a strong emphasis on directing, shooting, and editing.
  • A strong understanding of how short-form video performs across platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn.
  • The ability to identify and capture moments quickly in a live environment.
  • Deep familiarity with camera equipment, lighting, and audio in event environments.
  • Strong visual taste and storytelling instincts.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates range - from cinematic storytelling to fast-turn social content.
  • Comfort working directly with clients and collaborating with creative teams.

HOW YOU WORK

  • You are a creator at heart and excited to help build something new.
  • You are comfortable working independently and taking initiative when opportunities appear.
  • You bring ideas forward - creatively and operationally.
  • You balance creative instincts with strong execution and attention to detail.
  • You stay curious about culture, new platforms, and emerging tools.

TOOLS & PLATFORMS

  • Working knowledge of TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Experience editing using tools such as Adobe Premiere, After Effects, CapCut, or similar platforms.
  • Comfortably operate Mac-based production environments and Google Workspace.

WHY MKG?

We're a people-first agency that believes in bold ideas, big energy, and doing great work with great humans. If you're looking for a role where you can shape a brand, drive impact, and have a little fun while doing it, we'd love to meet you.
