Job description

Position Purpose:
The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) at SRS Distribution plays a critical role in supporting the Branch Manager to achieve excellence in branch operations, financial performance, and customer satisfaction. This position requires a strategic mindset, operational leadership, financial insight, team development, and relationship management. ABM ensures efficient branch operations, drives revenue growth, fosters a high-performing team, and contributes to strategic planning initiatives that sustain long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Leadership: Support the Branch Manager in implementing company standards, optimizing warehouse and branch operations, and driving initiatives that enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Financial Performance: Assist in achieving branch revenue and profitability targets by monitoring financial metrics, executing sales strategies, and identifying opportunities for sales growth.
  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop branch staff, including warehouse personnel, drivers, and inside sales teams. Provide training, performance feedback, and foster a collaborative, high-performing workplace.
  • Customer Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships, proactively addressing inquiries and resolving issues to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Branch Manager to develop and execute strategic plans, leveraging market and operational insights to drive branch growth and operational excellence.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate and review branch performance reports, including financial results, staffing forecasting and efficiency, inventory levels, and customer satisfaction metrics, providing actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Operational Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures. Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse and branch environment.

Direct Manager / Direct Reports:
  • Reports To: Branch Manager
  • Direct Reports: Supervise warehouse and operations staff, including drivers and inside sales support. Responsible for guiding, assigning, and training personnel to execute branch operations efficiently. Collaborates closely with sales, operations, and administrative teams to achieve branch objectives.

Travel Requirements:
Up to 25% travel to regional meetings, customer worksites and branch locations to support operational excellence, relationships, and branch/team development.
Physical Requirements:
This role involves both office and warehouse responsibilities. The ABM must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 75 pounds. Requires use of standard office equipment, effective verbal and written communication, and ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy. Reasonable accommodations are provided as needed.
Working Conditions:
The ABM operates in a fast-paced, dynamic, hybrid environment, balancing office work, customer engagement, and warehouse oversight. Requires flexibility, problem-solving, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks. Must maintain attention to detail while managing branch operations, inventory, and customer needs effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years (or more) experience in a warehouse, distribution, or supervisory/assistant management role; prior experience in building materials, roofing, or related industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams, oversee operations, and execute processes efficiently.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
