Job description

Are you energetic, customer-focused, and passionate about serving your community? The Allen County Public Library is seeking a Part-Time Branch Assistant to join our team at the Georgetown Branch, one of our busiest and most vibrant locations.
The Georgetown Branch serves a diverse community and is especially popular with middle school-aged children and teens. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a lively environment, loves helping people, and thrives when juggling multiple responsibilities at once.
Pay for this position ranges from $14.05 to $16.50 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. The schedule is 28 hours per week and will work a mix of days, evenings, and Saturdays.

What You'll Do
As a Branch Assistant, you'll help create a welcoming and positive experience for every visitor. Responsibilities include:
  • Assisting patrons with checking materials in and out
  • Helping customers locate books, materials, and resources
  • Issuing new library cards and updating patron accounts
  • Processing payments and explaining library fees
  • Answering questions in person, by phone, and via email
  • Assisting with holds and requested materials
  • Monitoring returned items and routing them appropriately
  • Providing information about library programs, services, and events
  • Supporting daily branch operations and maintaining an inviting environment
No two days are exactly alike. You'll regularly interact with children, teens, families, and adults while helping keep our busy branch running smoothly.
