Job description

HD Fowler Company is looking for a full-time Service Technician based out of our Redmond, Oregon branch. You will be responsible for independently managing and providing various services to customers of distributor. What you will do:

  • Perform HDPE Fusion welding service with Hydraulic and Non-Hydraulic fusion equipment
  • Trained to maintain hydraulic equipment, and associated equipment, i.e., pipe stands, rollers, trailers, etc.
  • Perform other services such as fire hydrant repair, bacterial samples, sewer testing, and vacuum testing
  • Communicate directly with customers and schedule your own appointments
  • Develop ability to read construction plans and perform material takeoff quotes
  • Work with management to help ensure accurate pricing for services completed
  • Able to write, maintain, and bill sales orders for customers to completion.
  • Be responsible for maintenance, repair, and rental of machines and/or other shop equipment
  • Work in local branch’s warehouse and customer service, and contribute to overall branch operations, when service workload allows
  • Participate in continuous education
  • Willingness and ability to learn and perform fusion services as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Who we are looking for:

  • Experience as a service technician in the Waterworks industry preferred but not required
  • HDPE and prior buried utilities experience a plus
  • Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record required; ability to gain Class A CDL at later date
  • Ability to pull trailer with large construction equipment, bundles of pipe and pallets of product.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ditch safety certification or the ability to obtain it after hiring
  • Able to lift 75 lbs. on a daily basis, throughout shift
  • Medically able to complete and obtain all state and federal certifications required for safety
  • If not current on all tetanus and hepatitis vaccinations, will be required to become so prior to start date
  • Able to interact positively with, communicate clearly with, and effectively direct all types of coworkers and/or customers
  • Must perform job duties with an emphasis on safety and accountability for actions on and off work sites
  • Able to operate in a high-paced, demanding environment under a variety of climates and conditions
  • Able to travel 20% of time, with possible overnight stay required
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
