Job Summary:

Brake operator sets up and operates power brake to bend, form, and straighten sheet metal and structures shapes to blueprint specification.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Selects, positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed
  • Turns setscrews or bolts to fasten clamp bar that holds dies in position
  • Lays out or details layout on work stock from blueprints
  • Starts machine to lower ram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends metal
  • Use part prints and shop math to figure important measurements for the parts being made
  • Use radius gauges to inspect parts when needed
  • Willingness to assist in other areas as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications (Required)

  • At least 18 years of age (required at all locations)
  • High School diploma or GED (required at all locations)

Job Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Ability to use measuring and gauging tools such as micrometer, caliper, and radius gauges
  • Math and blueprint reading skills sufficient to setup production presses

Physical Requirements of the Job:

  • Frequent walking, standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting and lifting for 8-12 hours per day
  • Able to work in non-climate-controlled and noisy environment
  • Frequent overhead reaching and reaching with both hands
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting or maneuvering loads up to 50 lbs
  • Able to wear and tolerate Personal Protective Equipment (apparel and devices)
  • Vision acuity, corrected or uncorrected, capable of reading documents, blueprints, gauges, equipment settings, calibration instruments, parts labels and written materials
  • Reliable to come to work every day and be on-time
  • Flexible work availability, including Overtime during the week and weekends

Monday - Friday
2:30pm - 11:00pm
Additional hours may be required on weekdays and weekends
