Unarmed Security Officer

Location: Schenectady, NY

Clearance: Final DOE Q

Pay Rate: $24.50 - $28.50 per hour - Based on Experience Level

Position Overview

Join a mission-critical security team supporting BPMI operations. Security Officers protect personnel, facilities, and classified matter while enforcing strict access control and responding to security incidents. This role requires professionalism, integrity, and the ability to operate within a high-security environment.

Core Duties/Responsibilities

  • Enforce access control and verify personnel authorization
  • Protect classified matter and ensure compliance with BPMI security procedures
  • Conduct personnel and item inspections to prevent prohibited items
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and access control systems
  • Respond to alarms, suspicious activity, and emergency situations
  • Inspect vaults, secure containers, and office areas for proper safeguarding
  • Maintain logs, reports, and incident documentation
  • Coordinate with fire, police, and emergency responders
  • Support special security operations as directed

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen
  • 21+ years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • NY State Security Guard License
  • Prior relevant experience preferred not required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
  • Favorable DOE-compliant background investigation
  • Ability to meet medical standards (initial + biennial)
  • Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office, and security system application
