Summary

Chenega & NASA are seeking a Security Officer to join our team at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. In this impactful role, you will help protect NASA personnel, facilities, and critical assets while serving as a first responder to emergencies and maintaining a safe, secure environment. This position offers the opportunity to work in a mission-driven setting supporting one of the nation's premier aerospace and research organizations


Responsibilities
  • Protect NASA personnel, facilities, equipment, and property through armed security operations, access control, patrols, inspections, and security screenings.
  • Respond to emergencies, enforce applicable laws and regulations, investigate incidents, and take appropriate enforcement actions when required.
  • Monitor and control vehicle and pedestrian access, conduct traffic and security operations, and provide professional support to employees, visitors, and government personnel.
  • Maintain readiness by following all safety policies, standard operating procedures, and training requirements, while remaining available for emergency response and mission-critical operations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED and must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required NASA certifications, training credentials, and a DoD security clearance.
  • Valid driver's license, current First Aid/CPR or BLS certification, and ability to successfully complete physical fitness, psychological, background, and drug screening requirements.
  • Strong English communication skills and the ability to read, interpret, and apply written policies, procedures, and detailed instructions.)
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of military law enforcement experience.
  • One or more years of armed security officer experience.
  • Previous NASA Security Police Officer (SPO) experience.
  • Honorably discharged military service (if applicable).
