Summary
Security Officer – Chenega / NASA (Edwards AFB, California)

Join Chenega's security team as a Security Officer supporting NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center at Edwards AFB, California. In this critical armed security role, you'll help protect NASA personnel, facilities, equipment, and operations while serving as a first responder, enforcing federal regulations, and maintaining a safe and secure environment at one of the nation's premier aerospace research facilities.


Responsibilities
  • Protect NASA facilities, personnel, equipment, and property through armed security operations, patrols, inspections, access control, and site protection activities.
  • Respond to emergencies, enforce federal and applicable state laws, conduct investigations, and perform traffic enforcement and incident response duties.
  • Monitor and control access to secure locations, conduct vehicle, facility, and package inspections, and interact professionally with employees, visitors, contractors, and government personnel.
  • Maintain readiness by following security procedures, operating communication equipment, carrying assigned weapons and gear, and supporting emergency response operations, including weekends, holidays, and critical incident activations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED, at least 21 years of age, and ability to legally work in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required NASA certifications and training, including NBTS, ICS/NIMS courses, First Aid/CPR or BLS certification, and NASA physical and psychological qualification standards.
  • Valid driver's license, ability to qualify with assigned firearms and weapons systems, and successful completion of required physical agility and fitness standards.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance, pass drug and alcohol screening requirements, maintain a clean criminal history, and effectively read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of military law enforcement experience.
  • One or more years of armed security officer experience.
  • Previous NASA Security Police Officer (SPO) experience.
  • Honorably discharged military service (if applicable).
  • California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS) experience or certification.
