The Doe Run Company is currently seeking a Mine Engineer to use engineering expertise to support mine operations by participation in various engineering projects and initiatives throughout the trend.  This position is located at our Brushy Creek Mine in Boss, MO.

Title (Level I, II, or III) & Salary will be based on education and experience.

The work location may change as needed to support production and business needs within the Viburnum Trend in Southeast Missouri.

Responsibilities: 

  • Complete engineering work and projects; gather data, assist and manage projects in mining group, and evaluate and recommend engineering projects for mining group operations.
  • Help to create and follow predetermined development and plans based on AutoCAD drawings.
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, drive-by observations in the mines, and ensure safety equipment is in good working condition.
  • Track productivity through daily job notes; act as supervisor in a production setting in a limited capacity.
  • May supervise utility crew, schedule jobs and movement of the crew in the mines, direct non-production staff, and coordinate daily work.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner and Maintain EHS (environmental, health, and safety) compliance by holding direct reports accountable for adherence to EHS policies, procedures, and best practices; evaluating employee EHS performance via field observations and document review; reporting and correcting unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and providing feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience: 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a mine or similar environment preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Etc.), Budgeting (Adaptive), Drafting (AutoCAD), Database (Pi, MS SQP Server, Access, AcQuire), HR Information System (UKG), AS400 or similar mining database, 3D Modeling (Vulcaan, Surfer, Leapfrog, ArcGIS), and PeopleSoft.

  • Ability to read and understand geological data.
  • Ability to manage small projects and meeting financial, safety, and environmental regulations.

Environmental Conditions & Physical Requirements: 

  • Regularly uses a computer/tablet, phone/radio, drives a personnel carrier; Occasionally uses loading/hauling equipment; Rarely uses non-powered tools or equipment.
  • Regularly required to work underground. Frequently required to work in wet, humid conditions (non-weather); Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, exposed to vibration, and work near mechanical parts. Rarely required to work in confined spaces, wear a respirator, and work at heights of 4 feet or more with fall protection. May be exposed to loud noise levels.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; Occasionally required to stand, walk, drive, use repetitive motion and reach with hands/arms, use a repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movement. Rarely required to sit, grasp, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, Requires clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and three-dimensional vision. Requires precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to distinguish colors.
  • Regularly required to lift up to 5 pounds; Frequently required to lift 6-15 pounds; Occasionally required to lift 16-50 pounds; Rarely required to lift 51-75 pounds.
