What is a BOPP job?

BOPP stands for Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene, which is a type of plastic film widely used in packaging, labeling, and industrial applications. Jobs in the BOPP industry typically involve roles in manufacturing, quality control, machine operation, research and development, and sales related to BOPP film products. Professionals in this field work on producing, testing, and improving BOPP films to meet various commercial needs. These roles often require knowledge of polymer science, mechanical processes, and industry standards for packaging materials.

What are some typical challenges faced by BOPP machine operators during daily production runs?

BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) machine operators often encounter challenges such as maintaining consistent film thickness, minimizing waste, and ensuring the machines run efficiently without unplanned downtime. They must frequently monitor quality standards and make real-time adjustments to settings based on product specifications. Collaboration with maintenance teams and quality control staff is common, as quick troubleshooting and clear communication are essential to keep production on track and meet customer requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a BOPP machine operator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a BOPP Machine Operator, you need technical knowledge of film extrusion processes, mechanical aptitude, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with industrial machinery, quality control systems, and safety certification are typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and teamwork are essential soft skills for this role. These skills ensure efficient production, product quality, and a safe working environment in manufacturing settings.

Job description

For more than 20 years, Taghleef Industries, Inc., has built a reputation as one of the world’s largest and most recognized industry leaders in specialty BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) films. This reputation is a result of superior quality of our products and our people.

Role Purpose

Drive revenue from secondary PP materials (PP lumps, BOPP film scrap, edge trim, off-spec rolls) by developing and managing a customer base of PP transformers (injection molding, raffia/tape, thermoforming) and distributors. The role combines technical knowledge of PP transformation with proven B2B sales experience in the plastics value chain.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify, qualify, and onboard buyers for PP secondary materials: compounders, injection molders, raffia/tape extruders, thermoformers, and scrap distributors.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospects; convert leads to repeat contracts with clear volume, quality, and pricing terms.
  • Negotiate prices, payment terms, and logistics arrangements; prepare and manage sales deals or contracts.
  • Monitor PP scrap market trends, pricing benchmarks, adjust tactics to maximize margin and offtake.

Technical & Customer Interface

  • Coordinate with production/quality teams to ensure consistent grading, segregation, and documentation.
  • Provide post-sale support: resolve quality claims, arrange trials, and optimize specifications for specific applications (e.g., raffia vs. injection).

Operations & Compliance

  • Collaborate with logistics and warehouse teams on loading plans, transport mode, and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and legal requirements for scrap handling and sales.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years in sales within the PP transformation or plastics recycling value chain.
  • Exposure to PP processes such as injection molding, raffia/tape extrusion, or thermoforming—either in a technical, production, or commercial role.
  • Familiarity with PP scrap grades (lumps, film bales, edge trim, printed/unprinted BOPP) and basic quality parameters relevant to preprocessors.
  • Experience with international or cross-border sales (Incoterms, export documentation) is a plus.
