SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Pump Operator must have a commercial driver's license (CDL) and is responsible for driving to and from pour locations and operating a concrete boom pump, keeping the truck and equipment clean and in good operating condition. This position is required to have the ability to operate concrete pumps of various boom lengths. The operator will be expected to work irregular hours including weekends when necessary and be willing to commute up to 250 miles a day. Schedules can always change at any time therefore the operator needs to be flexible and able to work overtime.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Move the pump safely to and from the job site. Ascertain that all safety and precautionary measures are put into place before, during, and after each project
  • Follow manufacturer guidelines and safety requirements
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure that concrete pumps operate in accordance with DOT regulations
  • Evaluate site conditions and works with contractors and superintendents to park and set up the truck properly
  • Load and unload concrete pump attachments and ensure that all associated tools are used in a safe manner
  • Operate the pump in a safe and conscientious manner, set up the system, and clean out the pump after the job
  • Evaluate concrete mix designs and the effects of hot and cold conditions on concrete mixes
  • Pump concrete to customer satisfaction meeting the company's quality standards with respect to yards per hour in the safest manner
  • Perform maintenance on the pump. Recognize and report problems with the pump when they arise. Ensure that pump remains in good working condition
  • Keep the truck and pump washed and free of concrete and ready for the next job
  • Complete required paperwork, including but not limited to pump inspection forms, job tickets, invoices, and maintenance forms
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Commercial concrete pump, place, finish
  • Large truck operations and mechanics
  • Safety procedures and best practices on a construction site
SKILLS:
  • Safely drive concrete pump truck on public and private roadways
  • Operate four-section booms
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise on jobsite
  • Is a self-starter with a high level of energy
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision and in a timely manner
  • Is a team player willing to assist others for the good of the department & the company
  • Apply common sense and good judgement to everyday situations
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3-5 years of concrete boom pump experience
  • Follows all safety rules on the job site and encourages others to do the same
  • Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time including: Kneeling, stooping, crouching, balancing, climbing, and crawling
  • Valid CDL
  • Current medical card
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening and motor vehicle review
  • Must have OSHA 10
  • Willingness to commute up to 250 miles per day
  • Punctual and consistent attendance and arrivals to work
