About the Role
HMA, a leading New England healthcare consulting firm, is looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to support our physician practice clients. You'll own the day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of practices — some large, some small — while working closely with clients, their accounting and insurance advisors, and our in-house consulting team.
This role suits someone who thrives on accuracy and independence: a self-starter who's comfortable managing multiple sets of books at once, communicating directly with clients, and keeping pace in a fast-moving environment.
What You'll Do
• Post deposits from all sources and maintain accurate account balances for each client; reconcile monthly bank statements
• Process bills for payment and post invoices to the appropriate accounts
• Run weekly, semi-monthly, and/or monthly payroll for clients, coordinating with payroll processors and managing 401(k) contributions
• Post monthly journal entries and prepare financial statements, cash disbursement analysis, and a detailed general ledger for accountant review
• Prepare balance sheets and profit & loss statements for consultants, clients, and accountants
• Serve as the liaison between clients, consultants, accountants, and banking officials on bookkeeping matters
• Respond to client inquiries on check requests, cash balances, accounts payable, payroll, and HR issues
• Maintain enrollment and termination records for clients' health and other insurance plans
• Maintain an up-to-date profile sheet for each bookkeeping client
• Use Excel for reporting and payroll calculations, with support from our internal data management staff
What You Bring
• 8+ years of computerized bookkeeping experience
• Experience with Sage 50 Accounting Software strongly preferred; experience with comparable accounting platforms also considered
• Sharp attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage and process multiple clients' financial statements simultaneously
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — you'll be the face of our firm to clients
• Strong Excel skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting
• Availability to work on-site, with occasional remote work flexibility
