Job description

We are seeking a reliable Accounting Assistant / Bookkeeper to support daily financial operations, payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, and multi-state sales tax reporting. This role is ideal for candidates with strong bookkeeping experience who are comfortable managing transactional accounting tasks and supporting month-end close processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of financial statements and month-end close
• Process accounts payable (AP), vendor invoices, and credit card expenses
• Manage accounts receivable (AR), customer billing, and cash application
• Post and reconcile cash and credit card payments
• Process biweekly payroll for approximately 20 employees
• Maintain payroll systems and employee pay records
• Prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales tax reports for multiple states
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
• Support general bookkeeping and accounting operations as assigned

Required Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as an Accounting Assistant, Bookkeeper, or Accounting Clerk
• Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Payroll processing experience
• Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets (Excel)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multi-state sales tax reporting
• Experience supporting month-end or year-end close
• Small business accounting experience
