Spivey & Morton, CPA, PA is a public accounting firm providing tax, accounting, payroll, and advisory services to individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations. Our services include individual, business, estate and trust tax preparation, compiled and reviewed financial statements, tax planning and consulting, bookkeeping and payroll services. We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our growing team.

Position Summary
The Tax Manager will oversee tax engagements for a diverse client base spanning individuals, businesses, and non-profits, while also contributing to compilation and review engagements. This role requires strong technical tax knowledge, the ability to manage client relationships directly, supervise staff, as well as review and sign tax returns.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review individual, business, and non-profit tax returns
  • Manage client relationships and serve as a primary point of contact for assigned engagements
  • Research and resolve complex tax issues, ensuring compliance with current tax law
  • Assist with compilation and reviewed financial statement engagements
  • Supervise, train, and review the work of staff accountants
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and provide proactive advisory support to clients
  • Manage engagement workflow and deadlines to ensure timely filing and delivery
  • Communicate with the IRS and state agencies on client matters as needed

Qualifications

  • CPA license preferred; EA or equivalent experience also considered
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax
  • Experience with UltraTax, Fixed Assets CS, and QuickBooks Online preferred
  • Strong knowledge of individual, business, and non-profit tax compliance
  • Experience with compilation and review engagements
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage client relationships
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to review and mentor junior staff

Location
Our firm operates two offices, located in Wilson, NC and Wendell, NC. This position will be based primarily at one location, with occasional travel to the other office as needed for meetings. Candidates must be willing to work from both locations as business needs require.


Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
