Job description

We are partnering with a growing organization in the Grand Rapids area seeking an experienced Assistant Controller for an interim assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can quickly step in to support financial operations, reporting, and month-end close activities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements and account reconciliations
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Oversee general ledger activities and ensure accounting accuracy
  • Assist with audit preparation and compliance requirements
  • Partner with department leaders to analyze financial performance
  • Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls
  • Provide leadership and support to accounting staff as needed
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Ability to quickly adapt and make an immediate impact
