Job Title: Retail Book Specialist

Employment Type: Full-Time


Goodwill Southwest Florida is seeking a knowledgeable and detail‑oriented Retail Book Specialist to support the Books, Media, and Art areas within retail stores and warehouse operations. This role is essential in sorting, organizing, and maintaining high‑quality book, media, and art selections while ensuring these departments remain full, clean, and visually appealing. The ideal candidate brings subject‑matter interest, strong organizational skills, and a customer‑focused mindset while supporting Goodwill's mission of creating opportunities and strengthening the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sort books, media, and art according to established criteria and department guidelines.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and fully stocked Book and/or Art departments.
  • Photograph artwork and generate accurate description cards for display and sale.
  • Assist with merchandising to enhance presentation and customer engagement.
  • Support donation intake, cleaning, and related retail duties as assigned.
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service to internal teams and customers.
  • Work independently while following directions from supervisors.
  • Perform additional duties as instructed to support daily retail operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Retail experience, preferably involving books and/or art.
  • In‑depth knowledge of book, media, and art categories.
  • Familiarity with best‑selling authors and notable artists.
  • Proficiency using computers to generate description cards and conduct research.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical capability to turn, lean, kneel, bend, and perform routine movement tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules based on business needs.
