Position Description
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookstore Associate to assist the Bookstore Manager in the daily operations of our store. This role combines in-store retail responsibilities with online store management, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both customer interaction and behind-the-scenes organization.
Position Responsibilities
• Utilize POS System to handle sales, exchanges and returns
• Provide Customer Service
• Follow opening and closing procedures.
• Perform daily reconciliation of receipts.
• Handling and unpacking of book cases weighing approx. 30lbs - 50lbs each.
• Maintain the store's stock of books, clothing and gifts; fold and arrange clothing,
• Provide general up-keep of store (vacuuming, dusting), organize merchandise
• Assist with inventory, including re-stocking, barcode labeling, pricing, tracking low-stock and sold-out merchandise
• Run off-campus errands including banking, picking up supplies
• Research and recommend new book titles for purchase.
• Handle web store maintenance including merchandise additions and deletions, inventory tracking, pricing, description of items, styles, colors and sizes. Improve overall website look and design. Retrieve, fulfill and ship online orders as they come in daily.
Position Requirements
EDUCATION: High school or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: Minimum one year of retail experience, preferably in a bookstore.
SKILLS:
• Knowledge of POS cash register system.
• Customer service skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, email, and internet.
• Website maintenance skills
