Job description

About the role:

  • You'll be the primary design engine of the Jacob media team, building a curated visual presence with an unmistakable aesthetic point of view
  • Working directly with our founder and creative director, you'll touch every piece of media a customer sees: campaign graphics, social and paid formats, out-of-home, retail moments, brand collateral. Every word a customer reads and every image a customer sees from Jacob must be held to the highest of standards, represent our premium quality, and speak to our brand voice and message in a consistent, appealing manner.
  • We're not looking for a classic food-and-beverage designer. We're looking for someone who understands design at its heart-its restraint, craft, and power to build worlds-and wants to bring that philosophy somewhere it rarely lives.

What you'll do:

  • Design campaign graphics and craft stunning visual assets across every touchpoint
  • Build campaign worlds-visual identity, typography, and layout systems
  • Adapt and format campaign creative across dozens of placements and specs while keeping the visual system airtight
  • Collaborate daily: briefs and reviews with our founder and creative director, handoffs with content manager, timelines with producers
  • Understands how to work on dielines with a packaging printer to support flavor launches and product drops with packaging design work

Requirements

  • 7+ years of design experience at a brand, studio, or agency-likely in fashion, lifestyle, editorial, or culture
  • A portfolio that shows taste: restraint, exceptional use of typography, and world-building (not trend-chasing)
  • You understand design at its core and are excited to bring that philosophy to a category that's never seen it done right
  • Comfortable working inside someone else's vision: you disagree usefully, bring your craft, and don't need to be the author
  • Direct, low-ego, and energized by working shoulder-to-shoulder with a small team where the best idea wins
  • Obsessive about details, operate with speed, and delivers on-time in-full
  • Multi-disciplinary: this role is for someone who doesn't fit neatly into one "graphic designer" box
  • A contact book of freelance design/production talent is a plus
  • Photo-editing skills are a plus
  • Animation/motion-graphics skills are a plus

Benefits

  • Full-time, in-office position (5 days per week) based in New York City
  • Cash Compensation: $140k-$170k
