What does a bom specialist do?

A BOM (Bill of Materials) specialist is responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing detailed lists of components and materials needed for manufacturing products. They ensure accuracy in part specifications, quantities, and costs, often using software like ERP systems, to support production planning and inventory management.

Did the US lose 33,000 jobs in June?

As a BOM and Validation professional, job reports such as the loss of 33,000 jobs in June are typically released by government agencies like the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In June, the US economy added jobs rather than lost them, with the report indicating a net increase in employment. These figures are important for understanding economic trends that can impact manufacturing and validation roles.

What jobs pay $700 a day?

In the field of BOM (Bill of Materials) and validation, specialized roles such as senior validation engineers or project managers can earn around $700 per day, especially with extensive experience, certifications, and in high-demand industries like manufacturing or electronics. These positions often require technical skills, industry knowledge, and sometimes overtime or contract work to reach this daily rate.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

In the field of BOM and validation, high-paying roles such as senior validation engineers or specialized quality assurance managers can earn around $4,000 weekly, especially with extensive experience and industry certifications. These positions often require technical skills, knowledge of manufacturing processes, and proficiency with validation tools and documentation standards. Typically, they do not require a college degree but do demand relevant experience and expertise in the field.

What is the difference between Bom And Validation vs Quality Assurance Engineer?

AspectBom And ValidationQuality Assurance Engineer
CredentialsTechnical certifications in validation, engineering, or manufacturingCertifications in QA, testing, or quality management systems
Work EnvironmentManufacturing, production, or engineering labsSoftware development, manufacturing, or service industries
Industry UsageCommon in electronics, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing sectorsWidespread across software, manufacturing, and service industries
Primary FocusValidating products/processes, ensuring compliance with specificationsEnsuring product quality, process improvement, and defect prevention

While both roles focus on quality and compliance, Bom And Validation primarily concentrates on validating bills of materials and manufacturing processes, whereas Quality Assurance Engineers focus on overall product quality and process improvements across various industries.

Pay Range - $95,000.00 - 125,000.00 - based off prior experience

Hours - M-F 7:30 - 4:30

Position Overview

Kratos Industries is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead BOM validation, kit readiness, and production process definition within our advanced electrical equipment manufacturing operations.

This role will focus on ensuring engineering output is accurate, complete, and executable in production, with primary responsibility for, but not limited to:

BOM validation and alignment (Engineering to ERP(JobBoss) to physical build)

Kit readiness and verification processes

Production process definition and build sequence

Work instruction development

Engineering-to-production integration

Material and pick list accuracy tied to production sequence

In-process issue resolution tied to design or BOM gaps

We are specifically seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who has worked directly in production environments, not solely supporting design, but ensuring product is buildable, repeatable, and aligned to real assembly conditions.

Key Responsibilities

BOM Validation & Material Alignment

Validate BOMs at job release to ensure alignment between engineering models, JobBoss, and physical build requirements

Identify and resolve alternates, gaps, and inconsistencies prior to kit release

Partner with Supply Chain and Logistics to ensure pick lists reflect true production needs

Reduce material-related disruptions during assembly builds

Kit Readiness & production Start Stability

Support development and enforcement of formal kit verification processes

Ensure kits are complete, accurate, and build-ready prior to release

Drive improvements in clean start performance across all production lines

Production Process Definition

Define how products are built at the line level, including build sequence and key constraints

Ensure processes reflect actual production conditions and flow

Partner with leadership to align process with layout and material presentation

Work Instructions & Process Documentation

Develop clear, operator-focused work instructions tied to validated BOMs and actual build flow

Prioritize critical-to-quality steps and known failure points

Support transition from tacit knowledge to structured, repeatable processes

Production Support & Issue Resolution

Act as first-line engineering support for assembly-related issues

Participate in Tier 2 escalation and drive closure of BOM, material, and process-related problems

Work directly with technicians and leaders to resolve build issues in real time

Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Alignment

Identify gaps between engineering output and production execution

Improve BOM structure, material flow clarity, and process definition

Partner with Industrial Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to improve first-pass yield and reduce rework

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

5+ years of experience in manufacturing or assembly-focused engineering roles

Direct, hands-on experience performing:

  1.  BOM validation and material alignment
  2. Work instruction development
  3. Assembly process definition
  4.  Production support in a manufacturing environment

Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems (JobBoss or similar)

Experience working in industrial equipment, or other high-precision manufacturing environments

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in high-mix, low-to-mid volume manufacturing environments

Demonstrated success reducing production disruptions tied to BOM or material issues

Experience supporting kitting strategies and material readiness processes

Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles

Experience working closely with Assembly, Supply Chain, and Quality teams in a production environment

Proven ability to improve build quality and consistency through process definition

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be:

Detail-oriented with strong ownership of accuracy and execution

Comfortable working on the shop floor daily

Structured in thinking with strong problem-solving capability

Able to translate engineering design into clear, executable steps

Effective at working cross-functionally to resolve issues quickly

Focused on building processes that enable stable, repeatable production

Why Kratos Industries?

Kratos Industries designs and manufactures advanced electrical equipment solutions serving industrial and infrastructure markets. As we scale operations in Arvada, CO, we are investing in foundational operational discipline to stabilize production, improve flow, and build a high-performing organization.

This role offers direct impact on production performance by ensuring builds start clean, flow predictably, and execute as designed.
